Everything we build
AVP Construction JAX builds custom finish carpentry and architectural millwork for homeowners in Jacksonville and St. Johns County: TV entertainment centers, accent walls, dry bars, office built-ins, coffered ceilings, pantries, closets, and mudrooms. All of it designed, built, and finished on-site. Here is what we do, and where to see more of each.
Accent Walls
An accent wall is the fastest way to give a room character. It's also the easiest one to get wrong. Off-the-shelf paneling kits leave gaps at the ceiling, fight your baseboards, and read as a weekend project. We build accent walls the way a finish carpenter should: scribed to the ceiling, mitered around outlets and trim, and painted or stained so the surface looks like it was framed with the house.
TV Entertainment Centers
A great media wall does more than hold a television. It hides the cable box and the cords, gives you closed storage for the things you don't want on display and open shelving for the things you do, and anchors the whole room around a single, intentional focal point. That only happens when it's built for your wall, not bought off a shelf and pushed against it.
Dry Bars
A dry bar is one of those upgrades that quietly changes how a home feels to entertain in. Instead of crowding the kitchen, guests have a dedicated spot to pour a drink. And you get handsome storage for glassware, bottles, and the bar tools that otherwise live in a drawer. Done well, it looks built-in because it is.
Office Build-Outs
Working from home went from temporary to permanent for a lot of Northeast Florida families. And a laptop on the dining table doesn't cut it anymore. A built-in home office gives you a real desk surface, organized storage, and shelving that uses the full height of the room, all built into the walls so you reclaim the floor space a freestanding desk and bookcase would eat.
Box Beams & Coffered Ceilings
The ceiling is the one surface in a room almost nobody touches. That's exactly why adding detail there reads as high-end. Box beams and coffered ceilings bring warmth, depth, and a sense of architecture to a flat, builder-grade ceiling, and they're one of the most dramatic upgrades you can make without moving a single wall.
Custom Built-Ins
A built-in is the difference between furniture you place in a room and architecture that belongs to it. Done right, a wall of cabinetry or a flanking pair of bookcases looks like it was framed with the house: scribed to the wall, level across an uneven floor, and finished so the seams disappear. That is finish carpentry, not flat-pack assembly, and it is the work we do every day.
Pantries & Mudrooms
Pantries and mudrooms are the rooms that decide whether a house feels calm or chaotic, and they are almost always the ones builders finish with a few wire shelves and call done. A custom pantry build-out replaces sagging wire racks with real adjustable shelving, counter space, and storage sized to what you actually keep. A custom mudroom turns the door everyone uses into a proper drop zone instead of a pile.
Trim & Finish Carpentry
Finish carpentry is everything you see and touch after the drywall goes up: the crown that frames the ceiling, the baseboards that ground the wall, the casing around every door and window, and the paneling that gives a room its character. It is also the work where the gap between a cheap install and a craftsman install is most obvious, in the miters, the reveals, the caulk lines, and the way the trim meets at every corner.
Custom Closets
Most closets get one wire shelf, one rod, and no further thought. That's why they overflow no matter how big the house is. A custom closet starts from what you own: how much hangs long versus short, how many pairs of shoes need a home, what belongs in a drawer, and what you want on display. Then we build storage to those numbers instead of forcing your wardrobe into a builder's default.
French & Interior Doors
The fastest way to make a home office feel like a real office (or a flex room feel like a study, a den, or a playroom with boundaries) is a proper set of doors. Glass French doors close off sound without closing off light, which is exactly what most Florida floor plans with big open sightlines are missing. And because a door gets touched every day, the difference between a rushed install and a craftsman install shows up immediately: in the swing, the reveal, and the latch.
Custom Vent Hoods
Walk into any kitchen that stops people mid-sentence and there's almost always a custom hood over the range. It's the one element that breaks up the run of upper cabinets and gives the kitchen a focal point. It's also the piece most production builders skip, leaving a bare microwave or a stock stainless canopy where the centerpiece should be.
Laundry Rooms
For a room the whole household cycles through weekly, the average laundry room gets almost nothing: a wire shelf over the machines and a bare bulb. The result is detergent on top of the dryer, clean clothes with nowhere to land, and a door that stays closed when guests come over. It doesn't take a bigger room to fix. It takes cabinetry designed for how laundry actually flows.
