Stacked Stone TV Feature Wall in World Golf Village, Jacksonville

The Project

World Golf Village is one of those St. John's County neighborhoods where the homes are already nice. The homeowners here had a modern, clean living room with a tray ceiling and a wall-mounted TV sitting on a plain gray wall. Nice house. Blank wall. They wanted more.

The plan: a full feature wall in arctic white stacked stone tile, floor to near-ceiling, roughly 8 to 9 feet wide. A floating shelf below the TV for a soundbar or AV equipment. Clean. White. No bulk added to a room that doesn't have space to spare.

That before photo tells the whole story. TV on a bare wall, outlets exposed below, nothing anchoring the space. A good room that just hadn't found its focus yet.

The Challenge

A few real constraints on this one, and I want to be straight about them because they're the kind of thing that trips up a rushed install.

First: no wall bump-out. The room is already compact and the homeowners were firm on not losing a single inch of floor space. That rules out building a stud wall in front of the existing drywall, which is the lazy way to handle wire management. Every outlet had to stay accessible, repositioned within the stone field, not buried.

Second: the tile color. Anyone who's ordered arctic white stacked stone online knows the photos can run anywhere from bright white to gray-blue depending on the monitor. These homeowners knew that too. They wanted to physically verify the tile at the Floor and Decor showroom before committing. Smart call. The color accuracy of natural stone panels varies panel to panel, and in a living room this size the wrong tone reads completely different once it's on the wall at scale.

Third: the shelf depth. AV and stereo equipment varies a lot in how deep it sits, and they were still figuring out their surround sound setup. We sized the floating shelf at approximately 8 inches deep, enough for a soundbar or a mid-profile AV receiver, while keeping it from projecting out so far it reads as furniture rather than architecture.

The Build

We ran a laser level across the full wall to establish reference lines before a single panel went up. You can see those green lines in the during photos. That's how we kept every course of stone running perfectly horizontal across an 8 to 9 foot span. Stone this heavy has no forgiveness once the thinset grabs.

The floating shelf went in first, secured directly into the studs. No visible brackets. The shelf sits proud of the stone face so it reads as a clean white plane floating off the textured wall behind it. We kept the outlet access built into the shelf zone so cords from equipment go straight into the wall without being exposed.

The Rock Ridge arctic white stacked stone panels from Floor and Decor were set in sections working outward from center. Each panel interleaves at the edges, so the corners and joints read as continuous texture rather than a seam. You have to cut and stagger those edges by hand. There's no way to rush it and have it look right.

Here you can see the wall almost fully tiled, with the TV mount plate already set at the correct height before the surrounding stone went in. The mount was positioned to bring the TV slightly forward off the wall face, giving clearance for the mounting hardware behind the panel without a bump-out. That detail matters because a TV that sits flush against rough stacked stone will rock. Ours doesn't.

The full wall runs floor to ceiling height with the stone, edge to edge across the wall face, no painted drywall visible on either side. That's what gives it the scale. A feature wall that stops 6 inches short of the edges looks framed. This one owns the room.

The Result

Floor-to-ceiling arctic white stacked stone. Floating shelf with zero visible support. TV mounted flat against the stone with no hardware showing. Every outlet reachable.

The before and after on this one are about as dramatic as it gets in a living room build right here in 32092. Same tray ceiling, same floor tile, completely different room. The stone reads warm and textured in person. That's the arctic white doing what it does, picking up whatever light is in the room and shifting it slightly. In the morning it's cool. In the evening lamp light it goes almost cream.

No bulk. No lost floor space. The shelf sits right where the homeowners needed it, outlets accessible and ready for their equipment once the surround sound setup gets finalized. That's just how we do things.

This is one of those walls that the homeowners are going to walk past every day and feel like the house leveled up. Because it did.
