How Much Do Custom Built-Ins Cost in Jacksonville? A 2026 Pricing Guide — Northeast Florida, Jacksonville, FL

The honest answer first

"How much does it cost?" is usually the first thing a homeowner asks us, and we understand why. You can't plan around a number you don't have. So here's the honest answer up front: there is no flat price for custom built-ins, because nothing we build comes off a shelf. A floating-shelf dry bar in a Ponte Vedra condo and a floor-to-ceiling entertainment wall with a fireplace and hidden wiring in a Nocatee great room are two completely different projects, even if both get called a "built-in."

What we can do is show you exactly what drives the price up or down, so that when you sit down for a consultation the number makes sense instead of feeling like it came out of thin air. That's the whole point of this guide.

What actually moves the price

Almost every quote we write comes down to five things. Once you understand them, you can roughly feel where your own project will land before we ever measure a wall.

1. Scope and size. This is the single biggest factor. A single accent wall is a different undertaking than a wall of cabinetry that runs floor to ceiling and corner to corner. More linear footage, more height, more cabinets and doors. All of it adds up to more material and more hours on site.

2. Paint-grade vs. stain-grade. Paint-grade work (MDF and poplar, finished with a sprayed paint) is beautiful, and it's the right call for most accent walls and board-and-batten. Stain-grade work, where real hardwood shows its grain through a stain or clear coat, costs more in both material and labor. Every joint and every board has to be selected and matched so the grain reads as one piece.

3. Finish level and complexity. Shaker doors, glass-front cabinets, integrated lighting, a stone or porcelain surface, an electric fireplace, hidden cable management, soft-close hardware. Each one is a deliberate upgrade, and together they're what separate custom millwork from a flat-pack cabinet. They're also where a lot of the value lives.

4. Site conditions. Older homes in San Marco or Riverside often have walls that aren't plumb and floors that aren't level, and matching new work into existing trim takes extra care. Newer construction in the St. Johns County communities tends to be more straightforward. We build to the house we find, not the house on paper.

5. Matching existing millwork. If your new built-in needs to disappear into trim, beams, or cabinetry that's already in the home, we match the profiles, stain, and species so it looks original. That's skilled work, and it's worth it, though it does add a little time.

A realistic way to budget

We don't publish a price list, because a list would either be so wide it's useless or so specific it'd be wrong for your home. But we also don't think you should walk into a consultation blind. So here's the honest framing we'd give a friend.

However you think about budget, remember that the cheapest bid and the right build are rarely the same thing. Finish carpentry is one of the few trades where the quality is visible every single day, on a wall you look at constantly. It's worth getting right the first time.

Why we give you one all-in price

When we quote a project, you get a single number that covers materials, labor, and finish from start to finish, with no add-ons invented later. We measure your space in person, walk through exactly what you want, and then put one honest price on it. If something changes mid-project because you asked for it, we talk about it first. You should never get a surprise on the final invoice. That's not a sales policy. It's just how we'd want to be treated.

You can read the full step-by-step on our process page, including when payment is due. The short version: a deposit at signing, and the balance only after the work is done and you're genuinely happy with it.

Is it worth it?

Most of the homeowners we work with end up viewing custom finish carpentry less as an expense and more as an investment in the home, both in how it lives day to day and in what it's worth down the road. We wrote a separate guide on whether built-ins add home value if that's the part you're weighing.

If you'd like a real number for your space, the next step is simple. We come out, measure, listen, and give you one all-in price with no pressure. Request a consultation and we'll take it from there.
