3D Accent Wall Installation in Seven Pines, Jacksonville FL

3D Accent Wall Installation in Seven Pines, Jacksonville FL in Seven Pines, Jacksonville, FL

The Project

Two-story home in Seven Pines, Jacksonville, Florida. The stairwell wall runs from the entry floor all the way to the upper landing, and you see it the second the front door opens. You see it from every step above, too. The homeowners knew exactly what they wanted: three-dimensional vinyl panels top to bottom, the whole surface deep matte black, and a custom neon sign with the family name on it. Nothing tentative about it. We respect that.

The Challenge

This one started as a DIY. The homeowners noticed some imperfections in the drywall and patched the surface themselves, a reasonable first step. Then they decided to keep going and take on the full 3D panel installation alone. The scope caught up with them fast. The wall runs two full stories. On a staircase, every measurement compounds on the last one. And getting panels flush across a surface that tall takes a scaffolding setup most homeowners don't keep in the garage. They called us at the right moment.

You can see it in that before photo. Flat, unpainted drywall. Completely bare. Our scaffolding was already staged and the crew was starting prep. The order of operations was locked in from day one: paint first, panels second, neon last.

The Build

Here's the call that makes or breaks this kind of wall, and most people miss it: paint the entire wall black before a single panel goes up. Three-dimensional vinyl panels have seams where they meet. Leave the wall white or gray behind them and that color bleeds through every gap and chops the surface into a grid of individual tiles. One full coat of matte black underneath and those seams disappear. The texture reads as one continuous sculptural field. That's the difference.

Paint dry, scaffold up. The multi-level yellow rig you can see here runs all the way to the ceiling. We set panels from the bottom up, working in careful rows. The geometric starburst pattern on these panels repeats precisely, so alignment is everything. Drift a hair from one panel to the next and the eye catches it immediately. Every piece got checked against its neighbors before it was committed to the wall.

Working at that height on a staircase is its own animal. The floor plane below shifts with every stair tread. The railing pins your movement on one side. And reaching the upper sections of a two-story wall means trusting your scaffold setup completely. We also cut the panels tight around the existing HVAC vent so that practical piece sits cleanly inside the pattern instead of looking worked around.

Panels set, seams reviewed. Then the homeowners' custom neon sign went up: “The Bohanons” in warm script, mounted directly onto the panel surface, centered at eye level from the staircase landing. That sign is what the whole wall was building toward. This is the kind of accent wall work that ends up defining a home.

The Result

Stand at the top of the stairs and look down. What was flat drywall is now a floor-to-ceiling matte black installation. Hundreds of individual starburst facets catch light from different angles, and the depth shifts as you move through the space. The neon glows against all that dark. The modern pendant light alongside the stairwell pulls the whole entryway together.

Amazing work, very professional company. Very pleased with their work.

Cris SMoure left us a five-star review on Google, calling it “amazing work” from a “very professional company.” That carries weight when the job meant scaffolding at ceiling height inside someone's home. We take that trust seriously on every project we touch in Seven Pines and across Jacksonville.

The before and after on this one is among our favorites. A blank builder-grade wall in a Seven Pines home became the centerpiece of the interior. Bold, personal, built to last. This is exactly the kind of interior remodeling that changes how a family feels every time they come home.
